Video Team Advertisement

It hasn’t been too long since I got the title of “director”. So I will just start by posting this advertisement I’ve put together with clips that was either directed by me or with help of other interns at *NXL (definition provided on the bottom of this post). As you can see, I’m actually in some of these scenes…. Yes, that crazy Asian who screams in the bathroom is me.

For those of you who are wondering what this advertisement is for, I was trying to form a group of people who are interested in filming. After working on couple 3-minutes long films for NXL, I wanted to get more people involved. So I gathered few clips from all the projects I have done and created this interesting advertisement. It was shown on a Wednesday night at a youth church(NXL), during both Jr. high service and high school service and the reaction from kids and some adult volunteers was great.

The result? I cannot say it was very successful for the purpose I had. I mean, kids liked the video, we all had a kick out of it, and over 20 Jr. high kids signed up for the video team. But, there were hardly any high school kids who wanted to join the video team. Maybe it’s that “too cool for school” mentality? Maybe my videos just aren’t good enough yet? Or maybe it’s both?!?!

What are your thoughts on this advertisement?

*NXL - It stands for Next Level Youth. It is a youth church that belongs to Casey Treat’s ministry and I direct most of their film projects as an intern. For more info, visit www.nxlyouth.com or www. caseytreat.org.
